We appreciate your enthusiasm about voter registration. This case is different from the voter ID case and is related to laws that voter registration drives have to follow. Organizations working on voter registration should make sure they communicate with their election officials regarding the rules applicable to their program. Also, please note that the deadline to register to vote in Texas is October 9 (and not November).

I'm a bit confused here. I am involved in a HUGE Voter Registration effort involving the Travis County Democratic Party, League of Women Voters, the Travis County Tax Assessor Collector's office and other groups around Austin and Travis County. As of 9/25--National Voter Registration Day---we had actively REGISTERED OVER 8,000 voters. Granted, this is in Travis County, BUT there are plenty of areas in Texas where the same efforts are taking place. We are doing all we CAN do LEGALLY to register voters. So, please, can you tell me WHERE the problem is in Texas right now? I thought that the new Voter ID Law had been vacated. What is this about DRIVES? By the way, if there is anyone in TEXAS in the City of Austin between now and November 9, they CAN REGISTER TO VOTE. We are capable of registering voters STATEWIDE as well as locally.
