Hearings for important election bills are scheduled as follows:

Today, July 13:

California

  • Youth Voting bill, ACA 2 is scheduled to be heard on the Assembly floor today. This bill allows a person who is 17 years old and who will be 18 years old at the time of the next general election to register and vote in that general election and in any intervening primary or special election that occurs after the person registers to vote.

Massachusetts

  • Preregistration bill, H 683 is scheduled to be heard on the House floor today. A person who is otherwise qualified may pre-register on or after that person’s sixteen and a half birthday and may vote in any election occurring on or after that person’s eighteenth birthday.
  • Voter ID bill, H 663 is scheduled to be heard on the House floor today. This bill expands the requirement for presenting ID for those voters who had registered by mail to not just the ones who have yet to vote in a federal election, but now to all voters who have not voted in any state or federal primary, caucus or general election.
