There is a movement afoot.

As we stand at the door of the 2016 election, a nationwide movement for social justice is gaining strength. It has been an incredible year in voting rights. The people have gathered around the country to demand laws that strengthen our democracy and organizations like Project Vote are determined to meet the movement and continue to fight for equal access to the ballot. This is the moment to focus on closing the gaps in voter registration and democratic participation to create momentum for permanent change. As the giving season approaches, Project Vote would like to hear from you, the people, on why you support voting rights. With a snap of a selfie, you can show your support for a stronger democracy.

Here’s what you need to do to show your support—here’s what you can do to meet the movement.

1. Download and print the “I Support #VotingRights” printable. (Open the link in a new window and drag the image to your desktop. From your desktop, open the image and click “print.”)

2. Write your message on why you support voting rights.

3. Take a selfie with your message!

4. Share your image on Instagram with hashtags #unselfie and #givingtuesday. Be sure to tag @ProjectVoteOrg so we can see it! You can also Tweet your unselfie at us @ProjectVote.

5. If you’d like to do more or if you prefer not to take your picture, you can support voting rights by making a donation on Giving Tuesday (December 1).

From now until December 1, Project Vote staff will share our own unselfies, as well as repost your submissions on our Instagram. On Dec. 1, check back at our blog for a roundup of our unselfies, plus our favorite submissions from you, our supporters.

Creating real progressive change begins with equal access to the ballot box. The movement has begun, and our democracy needs to catch up. Be unselfie. Meet the movement.
