| Georgia NAACP v. Kemp |
|
Citing clear evidence, including reports from clients and internal policies, that Georgia public assistance agencies have violated their federally mandated responsibility to offer voter registration opportunities to tens of thousands of Georgians each year, Project Vote and its partner voting rights groups filed suit against the Georgia Secretary of State and the Commissioner of the Department of Human Services for violations of the National Voter Registration Act of 1993 (NVRA). In April 2012, the Court held that the public assistance agencies must provide voter registration applications during remote transactions.
