Tuesday, the New York Times reported on former Justice Department attorney and known right-wing activist, J. Christian Adams’ allegations of a racial motive in the DOJ’s dismissal of a voter intimidation case against the New Black Panther Party. However, a Media Matters for America report reveals that the story “does not stand up to evidence.”

Among many discrepancies in Adams’ story, Media Matters points out that the Bush administration actually made the decision not to pursue the case (and failed to pursue similar allegations in 2006), not the Obama administration, which obtained a “default judgment against Samir Shabazz, a member of the New Black Panther Party carrying a nightstick outside the Philadelphia polling center on Election Day 2008.”
